| The "Stuffed Animals For Emergencies" project, also known as Project S.A.F.E., was founded in 1997 by Cammie Sanders. The project collects stuffed animals and plush toys from the community, provides those items to Police, Fire & Rescue, Ambulance Services, Children's Homes, Hospitals, Life Flight, and other emergency organizations, to be distributed to children caught in traumatic, emotional, transitional, and scary situations. Recipients of these stuffed animals have been in Florida, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington, California, Tennessee, and Illinois and other states. As of September 1st, 2004, the project has collected and distributed over 9,200+ stuffed animals. We have accept stuffed animals that were delivered from all over the country, and encourage others to start this project in their own state as well.
